Who We Are
Jason Stoddard
Founder and Principal, Stagira, Inc.
Jason is an entrepreneur’s entrepreneur. His experience dates back to the 5th grade, raising funds for the West Memorial Elementary atrium fountain while running for Class President. The fountain still stands and Jason won the election. Later that year, Jason recreated an animated exploding bomb on his Tandy64, an event that so tickled him, he showed his Mom. Jason points to this as his first experience in social media. He celebrated by eating three pints of blackberries, a staple of his diet.
Over the course of his career, Jason has worked in virtually every industry category, including but not limited to: construction, retail, legislative advocacy, online campaign strategy and fundraising, literary coverage and screenwriting, acting, front of the house and back of the restaurant and bar service and management, law, advertising, sales and marketing. He genuinely believes the restaurant industry is home to the entrepreneurial spirit’s purest form.
To the best of our knowledge, Jason is the only person in history to receive a $50,000.00 tip while waiting tables– an angel investment that allowed him to start his first business. Jason was the President and Director of Operations for Austin Outdoor School, CEO of Straight-up Software, Co-Founder of Cork & Company Wine Bar, and Founder and President of StainedTooth Consulting. Just to name a few. After starting and selling these ventures, a mentor observed that Jason’s knack for concept development, process and modeling looked much like a successful advertising campaign. With that advice, Jason headed down a new path.
His first client, the Austin Boat Show, is still his favorite.
Jason is most proud of significantly expanding clients’ revenues and market share and connecting clients to compatible partners and customers while maintaining or reducing the level of client investment. Jason’s former and current client roster includes: Pearson Educational Assessment and Measurement division; The City of Austin’s Economic Growth Redevelopment Services Office; StepStone Solutions; SpineSmith Partners, USA; Perfect Lawns & LandWorks of Austin; SixthRiver Architects; The Selected Group; Townlake Productions, Inc., River City Productions, Inc., Austin RV Expo Productions, Inc., and a number of first stage start-up ventures.
Due to his hands-on experience with clients in both his analytical and creative capacities, he is also frequently called upon to contribute experience to clients’ primary and secondary market engagements.
When not working or trying to get another idea off the ground, Jason enjoys reading, writing, social media, golf, watching golf on tv (He loves him some @PGATour), family, fetch with Huxley, Beckett and Kosmo, and Treehouse poker. Most of all, Jason enjoys spending time with his lady friend, Cynthia—the light of his life.
